Bob and Sue Smith built their new home in the rear garden of their father’s house.

After a protracted planning application, work started in July 2020. This was an extremely tight site with limited access requiring careful management of materials deliveries. Because of the ground conditions, special piled foundations were required, this is masonry construction with beam and block concrete ground and first floors and solid walls throughout. Reclaimed natural stone walls, clay pantiles and timber engineered fully finished windows and doors giving the appearance that this dwelling was built a few years ago but has all the internal features of a modern up to date, energy efficient home.
